the hold up is cutting the fenders because im scared lol. once we cut, then we can mount, mold, blend, primer the fenders in, primer the car, and start painting for real

    did all my door jams

put a basecoat over the rear quarters

its going slower than i had hoped but getting there...

    cut the fenders

    remove the lip

cut slits on the bottom lip

raise lower lip to fender wall height

    welded shut

now just gotta grind it smooth, throw a bit of paint on it, and then the over fender back on

also, drilled the holes on the front end to get it buttoned up, and checked it against my carbon fiber hood fitment, gotta trim the hoods bump stops a bit. shines kit fits very well i must say

so we fabbed up some custom sheet metal fender liners to close the gap from body panel to over fender. just have to grind off some of the weld and spray some undercoating on it

you can see the lip from this angle

underneath view, the yellow line marks where the body panel would be

with the overfender buttoned up against it

man, this body work stuff is going really slow. the guy was sick for 5 days so he just started back up not too long ago

    rear quarters are molded in

feathered out the front over fender tab to keep the oem lines going

molded, but maintained a seam where the overfender meets the stock body. some people blend this in completely which gives it a different look. its needs the seam imo

blended the rear, kept a crease on top, ill round that edge though

how the crease meets the body

99 spec lights on it just for fun

so now that the rear is done, my guy has been working on the front end. these aftermarket panels like dont fit 100% with eachother, on an 18 year old car, with a mix/matched kit and a hood from another vendor. well, my guy has been re-working the kit and hes finally got some pretty awesome shut lines! from here is all downhill, just prep, primer and paint! im taking a 1 week vacation cruise on sunday so he says itll be done by the time i come back! awesome!!!

he also installed my aerocatch hood latches!

these latches instruct you to install them with the keyhole toward the back of the car.so some might say i put them in upside down. something about if you lefted the latched popped, and if you had enough wind or debris to hit both latches open, the hood could fly open. well, these have locks on them and they look better in the "tear drop" pose. i also lost .000000025 drag coefficient going from an aerodynamic position to a teardrop position, big whoop, lol

Thanks, All the pics are of the 1st wet basecoat, we did 3 base and 2 clear. It is a one stage with fine metallic. I didn't take pictures of the clear coat or other basecoats yet as the iPhone doesn't capture it well at night. So it's not finished yet. I'll have some better pics this afternoon*

he did wet sand and polish, but he didnt wet sand enough, we ran into issues when i asked him to redo it.
theres still peel, so ill be taking it elsewhere soon, got tired of working with this guy. but at least the paint quality is good, no drips, dirt, thin/burned spots etc, and theres enough clear to still sand (5 coats)

Never finished, It is drivable and registered, got all that taken cared of before I went in to paint.

But yea, this is at the point I can say the project is complete, but it's "stock", so I guess I can start my "fun list"?

I'm in no hurry to get wheels tires and mods, but I'd like to do them lol

95% of the people loved the swap. rotary guys left and right would come around and say they want to do it, F rebuilding, F bad mpg etc. it was really respectful suprisingly.

about the stick, my friend with an ls fd had it for his car, but broke down on the way to the meet. so he gave it to me, i couldnt say no, felt bad for the guy not being able to bring his car
