Dad's a neat freak apparently, but we also moved a TON of crap out of the frame in these shots. Elias and Hayden were both there playing the entire time. I would have grabbed a shot of the crap we hid for the upstairs shots, but my battery was almost dead and I don't have a spare for the GF1 (these are all with the 7-14).

these were the boys for for part of the shoot:

you talking soap clean or no crap on the floor clean though? Because we moved TONS of **** for EVERY shot basically. Their bedroom was the only clean room really, and the room with the crib. But yeah, they keep their house very clean in terms of soap/dust, but with a 3 year old and my 2 year old over, there was **** EVERYWHERE.

    Needs a tighter crop. :duckandcover:

On the shots where you forgot to close the shades: instead of closing the shades, have you thought about compositing these so you can see the view out of the window? It looks like there isn't really much of a view, but showing a bit of the yard and trees can really add to these. Otherwise they look great!

view sucks which is why I blow them out generally. The living room window looks out on the street (cul-de-sac sp?) and the other out onto a deck cluttered with kids toys.

    and yeah, "nice fish eye!"...

but it was funny, the wife could really give a **** about photography. We go over there for this, she doesn't really keep track of what's what lens wise. As soon as SHE sees the GF1; "why'd you bring that camera? Where's the big one???"...

nope, i genuinely feel like i expected wider, it could be the compositions or something but i feels a slight bit less wide to me. apparently its only me, so no biggie.

I dont have EXIF viewer at here, im going off visual perception only. i am in no way concerned with that the tech specs are of what he shot.

Could be the focal lengths he's using, or he's doing a better job at keeping the film plane parallel with the walls, minimizing distortion. Apparently the GF1's lens correction chops off a bit on the sides, so it could be that in practice the GF1's 14mm equivalent isn't quite as wide as the 14-24mm on the D700.

Dan, I know what you're problem is. All the other arch I've shared has been nice McMansions. This is a <2000sf house of a friends. IE it's not the lens, it's the HOUSE!

yeah, not sure if it's because of the larger view with liveview, or if this lens is better distortion wise, but I corrected ZERO barrel distortion on these shots (I did crop out 2 issues in 2 shots though)... Not sure if I was getting it leveled better because of the viewfinder, or if the lens is better or what. I'll be doing some samples tonight hopefully comparing this to the 16-35mm.

The GF1 and ACR both correct for barrel/pincushion distortion.

well not completely apparently, but it does do a very good job. Is there a way to do that in LR on my own BTW?
but yeah, you still have to keep things level to avoid keystoning. Not saying these are perfect, but they are better than some of my D700 sets. I'll have to play with liveview with it the next time I'm shooting arch with it and see if I get it leveled up better....

Not sure really. I don't think so. I think it's part of the profile, so you can't override or adjust it.
