Just wanted to put up some stuff I took over the weekend. This was my first time using my new Sigma 2x TC and monopod. I'm not real happy with the shots I got. I don't know if it was just the bright sunlight, or if the TC was screwing with my camera's metering, or if I'm just noticing it more now than I used to, but my exposures were all over the place. Mostly blown out highlights, as are evident in these shots. I tried some compensation, but it just seemed like something wasn't right.

So anyway, they have an area called "Lion Camp". I could have stayed there all day. I've never been that close to lions before, and the enclosure was pretty cool for photography. I loved the Range Rover. They made it look like a safari gone bad.

Lots of opportunities for bird pictures. I have a new respect for guys that are good at them.

I think Ostriches are the dumbest animals on earth. I watched this guy try to fight with a fence.

Got to feed a few giraffes. It's amazing how huge they are up close.

I've got a bunch more to sort through. These ones just stood out as some of the best.

Again, I wasn't real happy with what I ended up with. I'll be upgrading my body fairly soon, I think. Not sure if that was the problem, but it can't hurt.

    very nice.
I wish we had something like that here (even with all the kids you had to deal with).
We just have one zoo and it's not all that special. That and there's way too much fencing/caging between you and the animals here.
    I own this joint!

yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery, today is a gift, that's why it's called the present.

Thanks. I know a complained a little about kids(one in particular) and such, but in reality I have a harder time with adults. Kids get a pass, as far as I'm concerned. You can't really get mad at them for being excited about nature/wildlife.

Yeah, it's nice to see the animals out of cages and co-mingling in some cases. I think the giraffes have something like 40 acres to wander around in with rhinos and various species of antelope.
