    Ok, I'll bite.

This is the result of a 350d+300mm f/4 IS at one of the music venues I run. All of these shots were at ISO 1600 and wide open at f/4. Shutter speeds varied from 1/80-1/100.

The funny thing is, the bar was so busy that I had to bartend at the same time I was trying to take these shots! I think some of them came out ok. If any of you have the chance to catch a Black Keys show, go see them!! They freakin' rock!

Those pictures look nice, what noise removal software did you use?

Not bad for a first shot. I've never tried concert photos so I can help much, but did you run those through and noise removal software? Some seem much better noise wise than others.

You can really notice the noise when the little flash slideshow thingy fades them in and out. When you're just looking at it normally though, it doesn't look bad at all... just blends in nicely with the style of the picture.

The one thing that I would critique (framing the shots) got better and better as you went through the pictures

    Nice shots man.

Yeah, I didn't use any noise removal software. Just levels and resize in PS. Full size, it is even more noticeable. I think the ones that look better were more properly exposed because there was more light being thrown at the stage. The ones with obvious noise I probably had to push a little with levels which brought out the grain.

Shooting with the IS was fun, but the autofocus was a little hit or miss with the 300mm, especially compared to my 70-200. But overall, I think it performed rather well at f/4. Afterall, I was about 100' away working behind the bar at the same time.

Thanks for the compliments, I think there may be 1 or 2 keepers in there.

I thought I would go through and bump some of our fellow members' 1st posts - starting with Ted since he was here at the beginning of NSOP life and almost since the beginning of our lives.

Your concert photography has improved 100%! Nice to see what you can do now as opposed to last June.
