Default  Walk on the beach last night:

Went for a nice walk down to "seal point" with the wife and dog last night. Got a few decent shots:

and one of the wife and dog:

I had to convert this to B+W simply because I shoot in JPEG and it was setup in my custom picture style that works so well for what I usually shoot... Well it also has a tendency to make skin tones waaaaay too pink to the point that it looked like crap trying to fix it quickly last night in PS. I think it looks OK in B+W except for the fact the awesome colors in the sky (same as shot 2) blend into on gray tone in B+W... But that's the first shot where you can actually tell she's pregnant and it's a pretty good shot of my 2 favorite things in the world.

Thanks, and yeah, we're both pretty excited... It will be a crazy time in our lives, but we can't wait. I'm also excited about the prospect of learning more about portraits as I hate them now... But I'm sure I'll be taking TONS of baby v1.0 when it gets here.

I wasnt a huge portrait fan either, I started doing engagement and modeling photography and I am starting to really like it. I guess it depends on the subject, but I have had nothing but good experiences so far.

My biggest issue with portraits is getting good settings for them. I'm not a huge fan of around the house type stuff... With a baby that will change though so I'll learn as I go.

    oh, and the other thing...
I finally have GNDs and I'm dying to try them...
But since it was a "quick walk with the dog" I didn't take them. My wife is very tolerant of me bring my camera anywhere, but does get a bit restless with tripod setups when going for a quick walk like this... So I had the perfect opportunity to test them, and didn't do it...

    Fixed that for ya, daddy-o.

Awesome shots. I love the one with the old abandoned car. It'd be interesting to hear the backstory on how and why the car was left there.

    Yeah, thanks.

As for the car, there's an old "dump" there from an old farm in that location. There's a bunch of other old crap nearby. Also that car has a geocache in it too.

Not to encourage you or anything, but here are some pictures of my god-daughter, and a friend's baby. Taking pictures of them has changed my opinion of portraits, and makes me want to set up some studio strobes!

And sorry, I'm not trying to hijack your thread... just trying to get you warmed up!

    Thats a cool geocache spot.

I end up doing a lot of walks on the beach with my camera, fiancee, and dog also. I've got a lot of pics of any combination of those three things. There's some cool geocaches in the area too.

Markitos: Those are some damn good portraits. I'm not one to get all ga-ga over babies at all, but some of your shots almost stoked the black and cold ember that is my heart.

    Almost.

Thank you. That's kind of my point, I guess... I'm the same way. These babies--being surrounded by them has changed me.

yeah, I wasn't a fan of kids at all until we've hung around close person friends with their kids... Random kids when out and about suck, but kids of friends are a much different prospect.
