Re: So I got my underwater camera!!! |
I looooove magazines, so I end up going to either boarder or barnes once a month or so... I browse everything I like (car, ski, sailing, photo, Photoshop, adventure, surfing, house, and any other mag that looks worthwhile). I end up buying anything that is worth reading about more seriously than a browse in the store....
I subscribe to:
Adventurer
Shutterbug (sucks, gift)
Powder
Skiing
Yachting World
Sailing World
I routinely buy UK photo mags, usually Photography Monthly. But yeah, that's from Photoshop User. Their Chrome letters are up next....

Re: So I got my underwater camera!!! |
So was that based on a real photo or done entirely from scratch? Care to share the method?

Re: So I got my underwater camera!!! |
entirely from scratch from a magazine tutorial:
*new document
*fill with "blue"
*new layer
*select darker blue color
*select gradient tool, then reflected gradient
*hold shift drag from middle to top (give you the darker blue middle blended)
*new layer
*set foreground/background to default B+W (press D)
*filter -> render -> clouds
*filter -> artistic -> plastic wrap (12,1,10)
*move it so it's from the middle to the top
*edit -> transform -> scew
*drag top corners out
*set blend mode to overlay
*layer -> layer mask -> reveal all
*linear grad at it's edge
*hold shift and get it's edge to blend
*dupe layer to make it look better
*dupe layer again (to use for the bottom)
*set layer to above the 2 blue layers, but below the skies
*edit -> transform -> flip vertical
*move it to bottom half
*edit -> transform -> scew to make it look right
*adjustments -> hue/saturation Hue:33 Sat:35
*Filter -> noise -> add noise (3)
*new layer (fill to 50% gray)
*filter -> render -> fibers
*filter -> blur -> gaussian blur (4)
*filter -> blur -> motion blur (angle 90 distance 100)
*set layer blend mode to overlay
*edit -> transform -> perspective and drag lower corners out
I think that's everything....

I know what you mean about loving magazines, my problem is throwing them away.Originally Posted by jacobsen1

I learned of Photoshop User a while ago from here http://www.photoshopusertv.com/ I have not found a copy of Layers yet though.

Re: So I got my underwater camera!!! |
Hi Scott!!!
Yeah, I know, I've spent $50 at a time on UK mags... They're so damn good though...
And I also have the problem with tossing them. I've recently come up with a new system. I read through them once the first week, then they go in the bathroom (where some/most of the reading already happened)... Then the second time through them I tear out what I want to keep, and toss the rest in the recycling box... I end up keeping only about 1~2 articles out of each magazine and then maybe another ad of something I want to lookup... Much easier. Then I file those.

Re: So I got my underwater camera!!! |
With the photo mags I offer them to my brother(he has a 20D as well) before tossing them (which is rare) but the idea of tearing out the articles, pictures I want to keep is a good Idea, I will have to give that a try.
