Like this one the best, I think it would be better if the dark light post wasn't over the top corner of the building.

booo, i just realized that the forum is resizing my pics...there are a couple that should be taller and it makes the blurriness blocky instead of smooth.

Re: a couple of my first pics with the XTi...now all of my pics... |
As I said in OT's photo thread, you need to get your mount much more stable. What year/type impreza do you have? My mount is bolted in using the rear seat bolts, then I installed a crappy ebay strut bar so I could drill and bolt to that.

Re: a couple of my first pics with the XTi...now all of my pics... |
i have a 2003 wrx.
did you build yours from a tripod?
i saw a post on iwsti.com where someone was selling a mount that bolted behind the back seat.
|
|
Re: a couple of my first pics with the XTi...now all of my pics... |
Not sure what the iwsti version is... The harness bar with a tripod head maybe? I was going to go that route but being 6'4" I can't do that and still fit my seat in it's normal position. It's like $250 if I recall for a harness bar (w/o harnesses, which IMHO shouldn't be used w/o a cage, but it's cool for a camera mount)...
I have a 2004 wrx so I can't use the headrest (one piece seat in mine). Not sure how you're doing yours but I've heard if you lower the head rest onto whatever you've built and get it to "lock" into place they will be much more stable... Anyhow, here's what I built last summer:

Re: a couple of my first pics with the XTi...now all of my pics... |
damn, I need to go take out my back upper seat now...
I didn't know those vertical supports where there like that or I'd be using them (I need to see if they're on the WRX too, or just the STi (since it doesn't have the pass through)... But yeah, I could see me making 2 of those verticals then putting in a horizontal to connect them and getting the actual camera centered... Also if you keep the camera low enough and far enough back on that setup, then the cushion might actually help stabilize it. I'd bet a DSLR weights more than a camcorder, but I'll have to try it to see. That flat stock is super cheap at home cheapo. Also the removable aspect is nice. Mine takes 10~15 minutes to do, so after I took it out last year it hasn't gone back in. Also you can't use mine (or that one) with people in the seat... I need one that works centered with hopefully someone back there like for out last road trip. Also with mine the pass through needs to be open which is loud.

i want to make a centered mount based around his.
would you mind posting pics of the ends of your mount, where they bolt down?

It'll take a while as I have to put it back in the car...

Re: a couple of my first pics with the XTi...now all of my pics... |
Man, I got this thing a LONG time ago ... I *think* it was a promo for a Megaman video game that my manager gave me when I was working at Software, Etc. (i.e. Babbage's/GameStop) way back when I was still in college. I have no idea which game it was for, though.

Can I ask why you use Manual White Balance all the time?
It seems your WB is off in about 75% of the shots, and in all those it's set to "Manual White Balance" in all of those... It fixable in PS, but I'm just wondering why you're doing that? The shots that are off are all have a cyan cast to them.
Your composition is getting good fast though. And FYI, I try not to rent stuff I can't afford...![]()

i honestly keep forgetting to make adjustments while taking pictures. i always leave it on the settings from the day before and i usually notice about halfway though shooting.Originally Posted by jacobsen1
i really don't know how to use the white balance settings, and i have just now started messing with custom white balance. i use auto levels and auto colors in pshop, and on my monitor, it works most of the time.
would you mind editing a picture so i can see the difference?

Re: all of my pics...way too many... |
My font is courier new, but I make it bold. It's 18pt, but that varies by DPI (I learned that today BTW!).
Try playing with opacity settings too so maybe it's lighter on the top or bottom... Or maybe fade it out so pat is missing (but your brain can still read it).
I can teach you how to do "reflections" like this if you want:
But smaller is better. It needs to be just readable.
