Anyone have suggestions for what I should see while I'm in the area? I plan on being there over next weekend. So far I plan on driving North up the coast, not sure if I will venture to the South. I'm mainly looking for cool things to see, so if you were visiting the bay area for the first time, what would you recommend?

So far I have the PhotoSecrets San Francisco and Northern California book to get me started.

walk the bridge in SF, take the ferry out under it, and if you can goto alcatraz (but you typically need reservations). All touristy, but all worth it IMHO.

Once you drive the coast, go out to 1 and drive the actual coast if you can (my wife got car sick, so we only did an hour or so on it). Go up and check out redwood NP as well as we LOVED it. The drive into it going to the beach is epic, especially at night.
