I will be heading to Shenandoah NP this weekend (Sat and Sun) and planning to do a bunch of day hikes in the area. Any tips for some really cool photo/hiking locations? I definitely want to do 1 summit hike - maybe Old Rag? I've heard that it is really crowded though

    Thanks in advance!

I hiked Old Rag last weekend, as I live 40 minutes away It can be crowded, but not bad enough to not goto the summit. Some places that are really cool and are easy for a day hike are White Oak Canyon Falls and Dark Hollow Falls.

I'd definitely do old rag if you can, it was the coolest thing I did there.

The skyline drive has lots of good views, and there are some good hikes.

I was very dissapointed when I went there a summer ago, we hiked to some "falls" that were dried up, but I don't remember the name of it.

All of the falls have had issues with that in late summer, but the abundance of rain we have had this year has kept most of the falls in good shape:

Thanks for posting this shot. Dark Hollow Falls will be on my list

I have 2 3-stop ND filters with a filter adapter for my Sigma 10-20. Do you guys suggest stacking the filters? Any tips? Thanks!

stack them if you need to... watch for vignetting though and make sure you shoot all options so you can see how they look when you get home.

The falls have 3 tiers, this is the lower one. The other 2 you can get to with some light climbing- just be careful.

I shot this with a CPL using an 18-105mm at 30mm IIRC. Exposure was around ~2 seconds right at dusk.

I've got two sets of photos from White Oak Canyon / Cedar Run up on flickr. Should give you a pretty good idea as to what they look like.
