    Default  Glacier National Park

    Hey everyone,

I will be going on a 2-day backpacking trip to Glacier National Park this Labor Day weekend. We have around 3-4 hours to drive around on the Going-to-the-sun-road before we start the backpack.

Any neat photo locations that you guys can recommend that are within easy access of the road?

    Thanks in advance!

it's been a long time, but when we were there we camped on the US side of GTTSR near the lake. Rad spot with nice paths. The lake is beautiful, the entire drive is beautiful... Once at the top of the road there's a parking lot with some rad hikes as well. We also drove up into Canada and hiked to a glacier up there as well. But yeah, it's been so long I can't be too specific.

Can't wait to see some pics!

Thanks Ben!! We are getting to the park early Sat morning and starting the 2 day backpack to Gunsight Lake/Pass early Sunday morning:

We are camping at the Gunsight lake backcountry campsite Sunday night. Should be fun!

We are camping Sat night at the Fish Creek Campground near the West entrance of the park:

Our plan is to drive as much of the GTTSR on Sat and check out the views and hopefully hike a few short hikes that start at GTTSR.

    Cannot wait !

Nice, can't wait to see pics! We've only been to glacier once, but wish we could have gone a bunch more (we didn't make it out until our second to last year in MT). I'll have to dig through my old film and see if I can find any shots from those trips... I remember taking some of the rad glaciers and colored water, but I don't think I have any online?

I've never been to MT before. My fiance's sister goes to school in Missoula (University of Montana) and we are going to visit her this Labor Day weekend. We are already planning to visit her again next year and see more of Glacier and Yellowstone

you'll love it. We liked glacier a lot, but we both liked yellowstone better. I'm sure some of it was the drive times (~6 -vs- ~2 from Bozeman) but also the variety in yellowstone is hard to beat. But seeing real glaciers, and driving GTTSR makes glacier a TON of fun.
