I will be visiting friends in the Charlotte area this weekend (Cornelius) - any neat photo locations I can visit?

    Thanks much!

    D'oh... didn't see this thread!

There's all kind of stuff around Lake Norman, the Raptor Center, Latta Plantation, etc. or just the lake itself. Down in Belmont there's Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens that I love to go to. Downtown Charlotte is okay, but I couldn't tell you what's there. Davidson College campus, perhaps?

Thanks! Raptor center was closed. We walked around the lake trail around Lake Norman - very nice!

raptor center is only good when they are doing shows anyways.. all their cages are build pretty deep so that the birds have a place to hide. I wasn't impressed for the cost of admission for a non-show day.

I might be headed down there next summer (I have a friend in Raleigh, and my Aunt lives in Raleigh), gonna pass through/stop in for a few days on my way down to FL to see my mom and step dad, so this could be a useful thread

Hah! My aunt lives near Raleigh, too (Cary, to be exact.)

edit: i don't think Charlotte would be on your way if you are driving down I95.

Yeah, Charlotte isn't on I-95. Now if you're taking I-85 down to Atlanta... by all means stop by and say hi!

And if you do come to Charlotte, I still think Daniel Stowe is a great place to stop and take pictures.

And damn it, if anyone else decides they're coming to Charlotte, email and let me know beforehand!
