last summer during a trip to maui my family and i made the trip up mt haleakala to watch the sunrise. what a sight to behold, it was truly one of the most awe inspiring views id ever seen and definitely worth waking up at 2 am. anyway on to the pictures!

Where on the islands is this, and how do you get there? Drive? Hike?

I'd love to do some hiking on the Hawaii peaks... isn't Mauna Kea ~14,000 feet'ish? That sounds fun.

the mountain is on east maui and you definitely drive up. it takes quite a while and is kinda scary in the sections without gaurd rails.

theres tons of hiking to be done, more than enough even for the avid hiker.
