Default  Mt Lafayette/Bridle Path Loop - Franconia Notch, NH

Did the Lafayette loop this weekend. (you can google it for hike and location specifics) We went up Falling Waters Trail to Little Haystack, across the ridge to Mt Lincoln and Lafayette, then down the Greenleaf and Old Bridle Path trails. We had perfect weather and took a zillion photos. Gotta go back with a tripod and more memory cards ... here's a taste of the day; shots listed chronologically.

    1) Typical postcard shot.

    2)

    3) Looking back at Franconia Notch.

    4) Mt Lincoln from Little Haystack.

    5) Hiker resting.

    6) Josh shooting.

    7) Lafayette.

    8)

    9) Cannon Mtn Ski Area from the summit of Lafayette.

    10) View from Lafayette.

Nice trip, I will put this on the list, along with Algonquin, Haystack, Katahdin, Washington, etc. Nice waterfall shots, and Lincoln looks just like Marcy does. Much more defined ridgeline up the mountain though.

    Thanks for the idea.

I've gotta get up to Katahdin too. I think that one is gonna kick my ass so I'm not exactly rushing over to Maine

My friend said the same thing when we were up there ... "This looks just like those shots you took in NY." I have a bunch of shots that look exactly the same from each mountain.

Yeah, it's one of the more famous/popular hikes up there. Arguably some of the best views in the White Mountains.

So is this the place with the visitors center as you're driving north through the notch? IE is that where you park, and there's a ravine there too, or do you park somewhere else for these trails?

You park at "Trailhead Parking", right before the Cannon Tram exit. There's a sign for the Cannon Tram X miles ahead, then around the bend is a huge sign for Trailhead Parking. You park there ... if you miss it (you'd have to be blind) the Cannon Tram is about 1/2 mile further and you can turn around there. Actually, I think one of the trails to Lafayette starts at the tram parking area so that's an option too.

yeah, I know where you mean. I think that's the next exit north after the visitors center I was thinking about. Thanks.

I've seen those. I am going to Acadia in Sept. I mostly meant another gets all the good photo weather for the Mountains. Two really nice trips he has had mostly clear and sunny skies. Lucky I guess.

I have to admit, I have been rather fortunate over the years ...

The weather sucked when I was in the Adirondacks, but it cleared for the 1/2 hour I was on the summit of Haystack. When I was at Torres del Paine, the towers had been in the clouds all day and literally cleared as we crested the overlook ravine ... 20 minutes of photos, and the clouds/rain rolled in. At Acadia we had rain on Saturday, but Sunday morning the sky was cloudless and the ocean had the post-hurricane waves ... awesome. I could go on ...
