Hey guys I am a newbie and getting ready to buy my first DSLR.. I am leaning towards the Olympus E-510 for a couple resons, live action screen and the Image stabalizer in the body, not the lens. Plus I found a good beginner deal,

I started out wanting the Rebel XTI but for some reason it did not feel right in the hands plus I want the live view screen. Let me know if there is something I should know and not get the Olympus.

I don't know anything about that camera, but IMHO, spend the extra $7 and get it from B&H. I've never dealt with buydig, but B&H is known to be the best online camera store. It's so close to the same price, I'd go with them for the extra peace of mind:

I know their photo tests with it are against the XTi and d40x, so at least you can see how they line up in a good fight.

+1 on BH, buydig ive heard some bad things about from other boards...

I've dealt with them a couple times. They try to upsell you on memory cards, batteries, etc but I always got my stuff.

As far as the olympus goes... the whole 4/3 thing looks interesting, but lens selection is limited (and not alot cheaper like I hoped)

I bought My Olympus Camera from Buydig.com they are pretty good. as is B&H.

I have had the chance to use the e-510. as a friend of mine bought it. i like it. I think tis slower to do everything with the live screen on. I preffer to shoot without it. But good photos. Get a really good lens and your set!

Thanks for all the help guys. It looks like Amazon has a good deal on it and a combo price with a card and bag. Looks like that is the way I will go.
