what do you guys think about a mirror scratch?
obviously won't affect the shot, just the preview...
possibly get a 20d w/scratch for $300 or less (auction). like 3k shutter ops.

actually upon further investigation i have uncovered that mirror obstructions CAN affect the operation:

It would also bug the hell out of me... It's what you have to look at any time you use the camera. It sucks too because even lint/dust/hair on the mirror or prism have the same effect and it seems they're harder to clean than the sensor...![]()

also revealed that the mirror is not a separately replaceable part... the whole subassembly (around 250-300 bucks) must be swapped.
damnit.

It can mess up various operations, the mirror isn't 100% reflective and light must pass through it. Additionally, if the mirror is scratched I'd be concerned with how the camera was treated on the whole.
