    Default  Getting head.

I want to order a tripod, but dont know what sort of head I want. All I know is I think I dont want a conventional pan/tilt head as they are really bulky.

Anyone use the pistol grip ball heads?

Looks big and heavy, but quick to adjust.

My other option is kinda a micro pan/tilt with ball.

Small, but wonder how painful it would be to adjust.

I had the same "Pistol Grip Ballhead" It is easy to use, a bit cumbersome and it makes getting low to the ground impossible.

I currently use this Arca Style Ballhead, I love it. Easy as hell to use, quick to setup and extremely Fluid.

this is the (dynatran/amnova) model i have, it was like $26 shipped and totally worth every penny: http://cgi.ebay.com/AMVONA-PRO-PHOTO...QQcmdZViewItem

it's light enough, super stable, came with a nice carrying bag and opens/collapses really fast and easily.

    I'm fine with $100 +-

I was looking at the $120ish ones on their site. I just need to figure out which head will work for me. I have a bogen small ball head with no QR for my monopod right now. I dont like the fact that 1) it has no QR, and 2) flops all over when I release it. I makes small adjustments or adjustments on one axis impossible.
