Default  77mm CP filter for Sigma 10-20

I'm looking at the 77mm CP filters available and I don't know the difference in these:

Is there a difference in what you need for a wide angle lens?

    Hmmm.

Those are more expensive than the one I use on my sigma, mine was around $70 maybe?

I don't think you want the linear one though, I think you want circular for a digital.

You're right I didn't mean to look at linear ones.

Was your $70 one multi coated? Do you know what brand it is?

Mine is Hoya, multi-coated, and was around $75. You can spend more, but I think the midrange, ~$70-$80 work pretty well.

Mine is a Kenko, I'm not sure if its multicoated and not sure if thats a big deal. Mine seems to work though.

Yeah, it's pricey, but it should be good quality. My current one vignettes at the wide-end and it drives me nuts. It's the same model, just not the slim type.

I shoot with a Linear Hoya on my Digital an never had a problem. Weird.

My Hoya--which is not a slim model--does NOT vignette at all on my Sigma 10-20mm.... that's the reason I chimed in. You don't need to spend the extra money on a slim filter like Scott does, because the Sigma doesn't have that issue.

Yeah, I haven't noticed that either, which is good news for us sigma duders.

Slim ones won't be able to fit the lens cap on though, right? And also won't have threads on the outside for fitting other stuff on.

There's a slim mount CP from Hoya that is multicoated and fits a lens cap... I forget the model.

The same filter is available as both a Sigma and through Ritz Camera as a Quantaray. It's probably available under other names too. I bought the Quantaray one locally for in the $70 range... the Sigma branded version of the same filter was like $130.
